Todd Essman from Cranesville, PA uses locally harvested and milled lumber to create his hand-crafted wooden goods. At the market, we are excited to carry his serving trays, cutting boards and charcuterie boards, all finished with a 100% food grade oil. For those interested in custom signs, wine caddies/racks, dog bowls and more, you can contact Todd at email@example.com, call 740-727-8282 or find him on Facebook/Instagram: @essmanwoodworking.
Food for Thought
Growing our Food Economy with Community Gardening
It’s exciting to see the growing interest in gardening over the past few years, but many in our community may face barriers such as access to a green space or the financial costs of getting a garden started. The Garden of Edin Community Garden was founded with the mission of providing that gardening space to anyone in the Edinboro area. In addition, four beds are reserved specifically for growing produce to be donated to the Edinboro Food Pantry. Growers are also encouraged to donate any extra produce during Wednesday Harvest Evenings. Last year alone, over 400 pounds of food were collected and donated!
Now in it’s eighth year, the garden is currently accepting applications for the use of a garden bed until May 1st (or until availability runs out). Located along Rt. 6N just east of the First Presbyterian Church, there are 36 spots available, each of which provides a 4′ x 8′ and 1′ x 6′ raised bed. The annual fee is $15, which can be either paid with cash or a check and should be submitted along with a completed application to: Garden of Edin, P.O. Box 789, Edinboro, PA 16412
or dropped off at First Presbyterian Church.
Applications can be picked up at Edinboro Market.
Mark your calendars for the Equinox Event on Sunday, March 20th from 2-4pm. Stop by Fellowship Hall in the First Presbyterian Church at 4281 Route 6N to pick up your application, free seeds, shop for handmade items created by garden members, ask any gardening-related questions and enter a raffle for the beautiful quilt shown below. All proceeds from this event benefit the Garden of Edin.
